Bess Treadwell presented with the Crystal Award from the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs

Bess Treadwell, from the Plant City Garden Club, was presented with the Crystal Award from the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs for her floral design “ Hats off for the Army”. The inspiration for Treadwell’s design was her husband’s 30 years in the Army and is a tribute to him. The hats featured in the design; an Army infantry officer’s hat, a West Point cadet hat and the maroon beret worn by Army paratroopers were all worn by him. The Army tradition continues with their son finishing at West Point this year. The design is featured inside cover of the Florida Federation of Garden Club’s 2015 Calendar. What is up next for Treadwell? She is going to Disney World and will exhibit a floral design that will be part of the International Flower Show at EPCOT.

Additional awards won by members of the Plant City Garden Club at the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs’ State Convention in St. Petersburg was the Table Artistry Award won by Christy Linke and the Club won the Flower Show Award for their Flower Show “The Pirates Adventures”. The Flower Show is now entitled to compete for a National Garden Club Award.
